During last night's cast, the mid-roll ads once again caused my little netbook to choke. I submitted this to JTV via their "help" page.
Also, FYI, 2 other related things. #1 - The netbook can't display these ads properly even when they do come through. The video appears to be HD content. The netbook isn't capable of displaying HD video, so I end up getting a slide show of sorts. There are millions of netbooks and other low power PCs in the marketplace. Your advertising strategy isn't reaching them. In fact, it just causes a problem on these devices.
#2 - I had the channel I was watching on "mute", but when the ad came on, the volume was not muted. Your ads need to respect the volume setting I happen to be using. If I have the Mute on, it is not acceptable for the ad to come blaring through. JTV complains when people take actions to block ads. Yet JTV is overly aggressive when it comes to serving ads to the user. JTV needs to find a middle ground. Ultimately, the user always has the final say.
