Hello off_the_charts,
This is an automated message. Here at Justin.tv, we’ve experienced a massive surge in demand for viewing on non-computer devices; such as tablets and mobile phones. We want your viewers to be able to watch in all these places, so we’re making changes to our infrastructure to service this growth!
Your broadcast settings will be INCOMPATIBLE on this new system, which will take place in November 2013. This is why:
- Video codec must be set to h.264 (it is currently "unknown") Follow this link to fix video codec: https://help.justin.tv/entries/25128411-Broadcast-Requirements#video_codec
Should you have any questions, please contact us through http://help.justin.tv.
Thanks!
Regards,
The Justin.tv Team
I'm not complaining here. I'm just observing that the change that they said would come in a few weeks a couple of months ago is actually coming to fruition. For Off the Charts, this change means that I will have to drop the MP3 audio bit rate from 192 kbps down to 128 kbps. As expected, I've received no response on my request to raise that maximum. Video bit rates are not affected. You still can have HD video, but HD audio is another story. I will say again, however, that 128 kbps is still pretty good and many of our viewers may not notice the difference.
