The channel rules are now called the Code of Conduct. New name, essentially the same idea.
Over time, I've gone back and forth between being really explicit or being general about what will make a chatter unwelcome. This time I've drifted back to greater specificity.
98% of the viewers/chatters already know how to behave in a public setting, and do so. The Code isn't directed at them. It is directed at the very few chatters who often demonstrate a lack of propriety or a lack of impulse control. It's difficult to totally ban a couple of these viewers because they continually set up new accounts. Maybe, just maybe, having the Code of Conduct in front of them will appeal to their better nature. My hope is they might tone it down a bit so we all can enjoy each other's company that much more.
The Code is also for the run-of-the-mill trolls (who won't pay attention to it) and for new viewers in general who want to know what the channel is all about. As regular viewers know, I try to keep things relaxed and tasteful at Off the Charts. The posted Code is just one little way to help maintain that comfortable atmosphere.
