I've accomplished most of my goals since I began casting nearly 7 years ago. I've gained confidence, both in speaking in public and just in myself in general. I've improved my ability to speak extemporaneously. I found an outlet for my creativity. I've been able to learn about and share great music with hundreds of people around the globe. I've demonstrated that there is an audience for a music cast that strays away from the mainstream and doesn't rely on vulgarity or drama. I've been able to master the technical aspects of putting out a quality cast on a very modest budget. I've gained experience in writing and in creating websites. Finally, although this wasn't really an original goal, I've met online many great people who have been attracted to the webcasting community.
Unfortunately, all this comes at a price. I've tried my best, but I find I can't avoid spending 10, 15, 20 hours a week - sometimes more - on this little hobby of mine. I could do a cast with virtually no advance preparation, and actually tried that out, but was disappointed with the results. It was never my intention to just play music and shoot the breeze with whoever happened to come by. I always wanted to bring something more to the casts, and I feel that mostly I've done that. Now it's time for me to step back and focus on other priorities. After official webcast #283 on Monday, we shall see what happens. Again, thanks to everyone. I've enjoyed it.
